About the Job

Job Description
You will work with all major components and standards specifications - Decentralized Identifiers, Verifiable Credentials, and personal datastores - TBD will be leveraging in development of its open source tbDEX project. You will play a key role in shaping standards and developing open source implementations based on them. You are comfortable with both independent and small group collaborative development, and able to lead an engineering team if/when called upon.

This position will report to the Head of Decentralized Identity in TBD

Role Location:

We want employees to reside where they feel most creative and productive. You will be part of a team that works across all US time zones. Travel is infrequent, and likely only necessary for specific gatherings of the whole team (e.g. a quarterly week of in-person collaboration)

The majority of the team is based in the Pacific Standard time zone. This role is open to all people who can be effective partners with this team, including sharing typical working hours.

You Will:

Spend roughly 75% of your time actively developing implementations of standard components that make up the backbone of TBD's efforts.

Spend the balance of your time doing architecture and guiding other engineers in a senior capacity.

Development and maintenance of verifiable credential packages, services, libraries and dependencies

Quickly scale the learning curve on new subject areas across domains and technologies

Manage ambiguity with comfort in a shifting and evolving environment

Qualifications
You Have:

BS in CS, CE, EE, or equivalent practical experience.

2+ years experience across the major components and standards specifications (Decentralized Identifiers, Verifiable Credentials, and personal datastores).

5+ years as an engineer working on projects related to decentralized identity.

Some management experience leading a team of engineers.

Fluent in TypeScript, JavaScript, and Go

Previous open source experience

Experience with applied cryptography

You May Also Have (but not required):

Experience with DIDComms and DID Authentication.

Experience with Capability-based authorization.

Basic ability to code in RUST and work with WASM

Experience with ION and DID-based personal datastores (e.g. Identity Hubs)
