Belgium-based Satochip SRL has closed a portion of its bridge financing round to support its expansion into the United States market. The company, which develops open-source hardware wallets and smart card solutions for digital asset self-custody, received backing from existing shareholders and new angel investors as it works to establish operations in one of the largest crypto markets globally.

Expansion Strategy and Market Entry

The funding will enable Satochip to build a U.S. operational presence and expand its sales and distribution channels in the American market. The company plans to strengthen B2B partnerships within the crypto ecosystem as part of its growth strategy. Satochip's team will attend the Bitcoin conference in Las Vegas in late April, signaling its active push into the U.S. market.

"The United States represents a critical market for the future of digital asset security," said Bastien Taquet, co-founder of Satochip. The company remains open to additional strategic investors interested in joining its expansion efforts.

Product Portfolio and Technical Approach

Satochip produces NFC smartcard-based hardware solutions for cryptocurrency self-custody. Its flagship product, the Satochip, features an EAL6+ certified secure element in a credit-card form factor and supports Bitcoin, Ethereum, and over 1,000 tokens and NFTs. The device integrates with desktop wallets including Sparrow and Electrum.

The company also offers the Satodime, a bearer cold-storage card designed as a paper wallet alternative, and the Seedkeeper, a hardware vault for seed phrase and password storage. All products operate under an open-source AGPLv3 Java Card applet license, allowing users to flash generic smartcards independently.

Community adoption has grown through integrations like the SeedSigner + Satochip combination, which enables users to build affordable, air-gapped Bitcoin signing devices.

Implications for Web3 Professionals

The company's U.S. expansion could create opportunities for professionals in hardware security, business development, and sales roles as Satochip builds its American operations. The focus on open-source solutions and B2B partnerships suggests potential demand for technical talent familiar with both hardware security and blockchain integration.
